An Interview with a Dental Office Administrator

Julie Carter, the Office Coordinator for the Norge Office of Morrison Dental Group, has worked for MDG for almost 7 years, 3 of which she has spent taking care of patients at the front desk. I sat down with Julie to ask her about her position, what she loves most about being a Dental Office Administrator and what advice she would give to any future students in our Dental Office Administration program.

What do you like the most about your job?

I love meeting all types of different patients and learning about all their different backgrounds. I also love helping people with their oral health and making them feel confident and smile. I love to see people smile!

What is the most satisfying aspect of being a Dental Office Administrator?

Seeing the outcome of all the patients we have been able to help and seeing them leave more confident or in less pain then when they walked into the office. Also, as an office manager, I love seeing all the successes of those around me.

What is the most difficult part of your job?

Handling sensitive financial issues with patients is sometimes tough, but we always do our best to work it out for the patient and their needs.

What advice would you give to any Dental Office Administration students?

Always remember that the patients come first and if you always consider the best interest of the patient, then everything else will work out. And being a Dental Office Administrator is FUN! If you love helping and meeting new people then this is the perfect career for you!
