Adriana graduated from both our Dental Office Administration program in the Spring of 2014 and the Dental Assisting program recently for the Fall 2014 term. She did a wonderful job with both programs so it was no surprise to us when she was hired by a Pediatric dental office even before she graduated the Dental Assisting program! We interviewed Adriana to see what she thought the best features of the program were and how her life has improved since attending MEC.
In your opinion, what were the best features of the MEC program?
I think the most important feature is that all of our instructors are Morrison Dental Group employees, so they are always speaking from experience and they are with us during our internships too which makes everyday a better learning experience.
How does the internship part of the program benefit you in your job now?
The internship portion helped me to come out of my shell and build a relationship with my patients. I couldn’t imagine walking into the job I have now not knowing how to relate to the patients and build their confidence!
How do you see yourself growing in the dental field?
I would love to someday become a hygienist.
Do you have any advice for future students at MEC?
The best advice I can give you is to always take notes, always remember that the MEC instructors have your best interest at heart and will always be there to help, and always be yourself!
What made you choose MEC?
I chose MEC because it is an all inclusive program! Books, study guides, scrub top, hours of experience, cpr, and xray certification! Everything you need to succeed.
What were you doing before attending MEC? Are you happier now and why?
Before MEC I was working at a daycare. I loved being around kids, but it was a very stressful job with very little pay. Now I’m a dental assistant at a pediatric dental office! It only took me 11 weeks to get here. It was hard work but so worth it! I still get to work with kids everyday but I’ve now started a career that has so much more potential to grow!
